We provide flexible, unrestricted funding as well as funding for research or specific projects, as requested by grantee-partners, and we also contribute to pooled funds.
We are unlikely to fund work outside our focus areas and we do not sponsor individuals or events.
Indigo Trust supports Laws.Africa to make case law accessible to individuals, organisations, and governments by building and maintaining open-access legal portals across Africa; working closely with Legal Information Institutes within those countries. Further information at Open Law Africa.

Indigo Trust supports law centres and other organisations providing free legal advice. During the pandemic we were involved in the pool funding and managing of the Community Justice Fund.

The Trust remains committed to learning, improving and being transparent about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
In terms of grant-making, the Trust was an early funder of Black Equity Organisation, Baobab Foundation and Glitch, whom we continue to learn from and support through sharing networks. Current grantees include Glitch and Clearview Research.
The Trust will be reviewing its approach to Racial Justice in 2026/27.
The Trust prioritises funding work that is less well supported by other donors, either because it is perceived as risky or unpopular or is a less understood issue. We currently fund four organisations addressing this issue from a range of angles:
The Lucy Faithfull Foundation - UK-wide charity that exists to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation
Marie Collins Foundation - supporting children, young people and their families affected by technology-assisted child sexual abuse
Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse - training and support for UK professionals in identifying and responding to CSA
5Rights Foundation - an international NG0 driving change to revolutionise the online environment for children and society as a whole
The Trust is also an active partner in the Safe Childhoods Initiative, a collaborative initiative aimed at combating childhood sexual violence.
In response to the erosion of women’s rights globally and the persistent and pervasive violence against women and girls, Indigo made a number of grants under its other funding strands which related to women’s rights. We have now added this as a funding focus to our portfolio as we believe that addressing inequitable social and political structures, systems, resourcing, and practices is needed to achieve equitable opportunities and outcomes for women and girls.
We will therefore look to provide unrestricted, multi-year funding to women’s right’s organisations in the UK to better resource:
We currently fund Centre for Women’s Justice, Femicide Census and Women’s Resource Centre.
We work to support more effective grant-making and philanthropy by individual donors, trusts and foundations and others.
Indigo Trustee, Fran Perrin, is the founder and Patron of 360Giving. In 2026, we were proud to support 360Giving to become part of Funders Together. The Trust continues to provide unrestricted funding to Funders Together and our Lead Executive, Thrisha Haldar, is on its board. All Indigo grants are published to the 360Giving data standard.
We are an active member of the Foundation Practice Rating, which rates grant-makers, without their permission, on their diversity, accountability and transparency. Indigo’s Trust Executive contributed to discussion and raising awareness of the rating and aspirations for improving grant-making practices across the UK. Indigo has co-funded this project since 2022.
Indigo Trust supports interventions gathering robust data and sharing it for social impact.
We currently fund the International Centre for Eye Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to disseminate data on eyecare provision across the majority world via the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness portal.
