Last month I was lucky enough to moderate a panel on how technology is holding government to account and empowering citizens in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent through the elections and beyond at Guardian Activate in Johannesburg. You can check out the highlights of our panel here. You can also view other videos from the day here.
It was a really fantastic event where a wide range of issues ranging from privacy, data protection, activism, engaging youth, the current state of play of journalism in South Africa, transparency and social change were discussed. There was also an incredible Press breakfast where we discussed how tech can help take journalism to the next level. Watch this space for my article in the Guardian summarising some of my key thoughts.
