Efiko is a mobile social quiz platform designed for school students in Nigeria to enhance learning through self-assessment with topical quizzes tied to the national school curriculum. Efiko is freely available as a mobile web (for all internet enabled mobile phones), Android app and Blackberry app.

Efiko was launched in January 2013 with Efiko Senior Secondary Challenge competition for secondary school students across Nigeria with support from Samsung, Nokia, and Tecno. Over 60 mobile phones and more the 100 relevant textbooks and other learning resources have been handed to students in States like Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Cross Rivers, Plateau etc. who excelled on the platform. Since launch, over 200,000 quizzes have been played by more than 13,800 Senior Secondary students (registered users) across Nigeria in over 90 topical quizzes in 5 subjects (as at August 30, 2013) with average of 110 new users per day.

We are delighted to announce a grant of £18,000 to Efiko to develop a more robust platform that will incorporate data mining capability and expand the number of subjects on the platform from 5 to 10 with special emphasis on subjects that are relevant to civic engagement (Government and Civics) and science and technology (Biology, Computer studies/ICT and Chemistry).
