What Are We Looking For?

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be publishing a series of blog posts concentrating on why we do what we do and what we look for when considering whether or not to support an organisation. The most important thing to say is that this is very much a work in progress and that we are constantly evaluating and reviewing and, hopefully, adapting to changing needs and circumstances. We are a flexible funder and there have been – and will continue to be – occasions on which we ‘break our own rules’. This is because we recognise that good projects don’t necessarily always correspond to neatly ticked boxes and because is some countries or sectors, there will be good reasons for taking a different approach.

I’ll cover issues such as appropriate technology, the importance or replicability and scalability and why we look to support locally-based organisations. I hope that the posts will prove to be a useful resource for organisations considering applying to us for funding and for others who want to know more about how we operate and how we choose which projects to support. We also welcome the chance to hear your thoughts on this and if you do have recommendations or suggestions for us, then please do leave your comments.
