As we recently announced, we are now publishing all our grant data in line with the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI). It was with considerable interest, therefore, that we kept an eye on developments at the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan. At Indigo, we believe that transparency is a key first step to improving the effectiveness of aid. After all, having a clear and transparent view of the world’s aid flows not only reduces opportunities for corruption, it also allows both donor and recipient countries to plan effectively in the long term. The news that USAID and Canada’s CIDA had signed up to the IATI standard, therefore, was welcome news. The decision of the US, Canada and others to sign up to the IATI standard now means that more than 75% of the world’s official development assistance flows are – or will be – captured and published in an open and transparent way. At Indigo, we will be keeping our eye on developments over the coming months.
