The Indigo Trust has awarded a grant of £10, 000 to the Hive Colab in Uganda. This is a community owned space where young tech entrepreneurs can network, develop projects, access the internet, collaborate, hold events and network. The Hive Colab team also co-founded AfriLabs, which provides an opportunity for spaces with similar goals throughout Africa to correspond and share best practice.
Developers can register as freelancers and are contracted for projects around the world from this space. Whilst participant projects remain wholly owned by their creators, the space provides access to a network of investors looking to cherry pick some of the more promising ideas for investment, also through AfriLabs.
A grant of £10, 000 was awarded by Indigo to cover training of volunteers, general operational costs, development of technical platforms and a number of specific interventions. We wish the Hive Colab every success in their endeavours.
