Publish What You Pay

The Open Society Foundation and Publish What You Pay hosted a fantastic reception at Westminster last night, to highlight the need for the UK government to oblige all SEC-listed companies in the UK engaged in oil, gas or mineral extraction anywhere in the world to report how much they pay to each government.

This would be a significant step towards increasing transparency and accountability in the world’s extractive industries, which are worth approximately $393.9 billion to Africa, nearly 9 times the amount that the continent receives in international aid.
